About the 4th & 5th Grade Learning Support Room

My classroom consists of 4th and 5th grade learning support students.  I teach reading, English and spelling.  I support and co-teach my learning support students in the regular education 4th and 5th grade math classrooms.

ELA 

Students will have many opportunities to brainstorm and write given topics and free write.  They will practice with writing both fiction and non-fiction.  There will be on-going student-teacher conferencing to explore ways to elaborate on their writing, correct grammar, punctuation and capitalization.  

There will be opportunities to participate with the 4th and 5th grade co-taught regular education classroom giving them opportunities to create stories and books with a partner.  Students will be encouraged to visualize, verbalize and make connections to what they have read and are writing about.

Daily language are activities are used in a small group and individual activities to teach and review sentence mechanics.

Students will continue to work on and master 4th grade level grammar, mechanics and language skills throughout the year.
