Course Syllabus

Algebra 1-A Class Syllabus

2018-2019

Teacher: Mrs. Zimmerman

Course Description: Throughout the year, we will cover the following topics: compound inequalities, linear functions, and linear inequalities.

Grading Policy:

Your grades will be determined using the following weights:

                        Tests/Quizzes              25%

                        Homework                  30%

                        Classwork                   25%

                        Midterm/Final             20%

Tests/Quizzes:

Tests and quizzes include chapter or unit tests and any quiz, including exit tickets.

Homework:

Expect daily homework assignments from a worksheet or online. You will always be given time in class to begin homework assignments and will almost always have time to complete the entire assignment. Expect homework to be graded on accuracy, though assignments may be graded on completion at times. It is your job to correct your homework when we go over the answers in class or to ask me if you need help with a topic.

Classwork:

Your classwork grade will include any activity, project, or assignment completed in the classroom.

Extra Credit:

Extra credit may be offered and I will announce those opportunities as they approach. Extra Credit will apply to the appropriate category. For example, I may offer an extra set of problems as an extra credit homework grade or have extra credit on a test that would apply to the test category.

Missing School:

If you miss school because of an illness, field trip, or any other reason, you will need to see me for any assignments or make-up work you need to complete. It is your responsibility to come find me if you do not understand the material you missed. You must make up all quizzes and tests you missed. Per the school handbook, you have 5 days to complete work due to a missed day of school.

Expected Behavior:

While in my classroom, there are a few expectations I will have of you, as the student.

  1. Come prepared.
  2. Come to class on time. The bell is not the time to be rushing into the classroom. You should be in your seat and ready to begin once the bell rings.
  3. You need to have the hall pass to leave the room and it must be completely filled out.
  4. Keep cell phones off and away. Per school policy, if I see it, it gets taken to the office.
  5. Respect others. Respect includes but is not limited to, not talking while someone else is talking, raising your hand, not using foul language, etc.
