Grading:

The following formal and informal assessments will be used to calculate your grade: homework, projects, quizzes, tests and preparation grades.   There will be opportunities each quarter to earn bonus points. All assessments will be graded on a point system. Your grade will be determined by dividing the total points you earned by the total points possible. Extra credit will not be given.

Homework:

Homework will be given as needed. Homework is graded on completeness, not accuracy. You must attempt EVERY problem and you must SHOW YOUR WORK to receive full credit. Each homework assignment is worth 3 points. Partial credit will be given. Calculators may be used on certain assignments.

You can receive half credit for late homework*. You have one week from the day the assignment was due to turn in the late work.

Assessments:

Quizzes will be announced a day or two in advance. Expect to have a quiz after every two or three lessons. Computation quizzes (whole numbers, decimals, fractions, integers) will be given as needed.

Tests will be announced several days in advance and given at the conclusion of each chapter.

Preparation Grade:

At the beginning of each quarter, you will be given a Preparation Grade of 10 / 10 points. Each time you come to class unprepared, (i.e. without a pencil, without your binder, needing to go to your locker, etc.) 1 point will be deducted.

Missing Class*:

If you are absent from school or not in class, you are still responsible for the work you missed. To get the assignments you missed, you can see me during Homeroom or Academic Advisement. You have one week from the day the assignment was due to turn in the work for full credit. You also have one week to turn in the assignment that was due on the day you were not in class.

*Homework assignments that are turned in late or from a missed class will not be given credit until ALL work is CORRECT.
