Class Conduct

All class conduct shall revolve around respect and responsibility.

  • Treat your classmates with respect and expect the same in return
  • Take responsibility for your actions!!!!
  • Respect other people’s ideas, views, and opinions
  • You may disagree with another person’s statement, but do not disagree with them. We will argue issues, and will disagree, but please do not get personal…
  • Take responsibility for your actions!!!!
  • You are expected to have assignments completed and submitted when due. Any homework should be completed and answered in sentence form
  • Class notes may also be collected or checked and used as course credit

Late Assignments

Assignments that are late will be worth between 75% and 10% of the original credit.  I will decide the amount of credit you will receive based upon how late and how frequent late work is submitted.

Conduct

Foul language, disrespect, and poor class conduct will not be tolerated.

Quizzes

Both announced and unannounced quizzes will be used in class.  The regularity of such quizzes will directly be affected by how well/often class assignments are completed.

Tests

All major tests will be announced at least 1 day in advance.  Absence is only an excuse for missing a test if you were not present when the test was announced.

If you are absent on the day of a test or announced quiz, you are responsible to arrange a make-up time.  You are expected to take the test the next day you are present.  You will have no more than 5 school days to make up tests, quizzes, or assignments missed.  This is by permission granted to meet the circumstances of your absence.  If no attempt is made to complete the work, you will receive a zero for the assignment.

Keep record of all graded tests, quizzes and assignments.  If there is a discrepancy in your grade, I expect you to be able to question the grade with your own notations of your grades.

Grading

Grading will be done on a total points scale.  All grades will be assigned a point total.  At the end of the marking period, the points will be added to find the students’ percentage grade.

Unannounced quizzes cannot be made up at a later date.

Cheating

I detest cheating and will do everything I can to ensure that everyone receives the grade they have earned.  Anyone caught cheating will lose 100 points from their marking period or semester point total regardless of the assignments’ point value.  Students may regain ½ of the 100 points lost on their first offense.  They will need to complete additional assignments, as requested by the teacher, in their entirety before they receive any reprieve from the punishment.

Please understand it is very difficult to pass a marking period if you are found to be cheating!  This has a tremendous influence upon your ability to pass the course.

Extra Credit

My extra credit policy is very liberal.  Any legitimate ideas for extra credit will be considered.  All extra credit ideas must be approved before the work is started.  No extra credit points are guaranteed.

Class Participation

Class participation will be compiled to marking period grades.  Class participation could result in as much as five percentage points added or subtracted from the marking period percentage grade.

Remediation of Failures

The largest reason for course failures is incomplete assignments.  Students will have opportunities to complete assignments they failed to submit.  They will be given partial credit for such assignments as long as they are submitted before the end of the marking period in which they were assigned.

If students are in need of course remediation in addition to completing assignments, they will be afforded such an opportunity.  I will make myself available for tutoring/remediation for one hour immediately following the end of school.

Students/parents are responsible for contacting me to set up a suitable schedule for such remediation.
